About the Artist

My given name is Elyse Curial;  Elysée is the artist name - my creative persona - that I sign onto my work. It means “imbued with bliss”.

I was raised outside of Edmonton, Alberta into a large French family. Living on an acreage, I was immersed in nature, free to play for hours on end, and explore my surroundings. The big prairie sky was my canvas … I never tired of staring into the skyscape, imagining far away places; enjoying the drama of summer storms and the stillness of grey winter skies that glowed gold and violet, or delivered crystals of white. This is the backdrop that shaped my artistic sense, even though it would be many years before I called myself an artist.

My art journey began in earnest in 2017. It has been an exhilarating mix of self discovery and stylistic evolution, as curiosity and life experience continually influence my work. I work primarily with acrylic paints, and enjoy painting a variety of subjects - from natural landscapes to urban scenes to florals, animals and people.

I have since exhibited in public venues in Vancouver, Kelowna and Vernon BC, and in several international juried online exhibitions. My artworks are held in public and private collections across Canada, the U.S. and U.K. I work out of my home studio in Vernon BC.
